These are stout fireplace grates made of real world railroad spikes. Over 16 railroad spikes make up this beast and it is made to bring function and charm to your fireplace. Grates measure 37-49" across and taper towards the back usually 2" or so narrower than the front. They sit 4" off the fireplace floor. Plenty of room for shoveling ash out and ample room to build a nice hot ember base. We've welded on a wire mesh as well to keep bigger embers closer to the wood for efficiency.
We can tailor these to your size too 24" - 30" or whatever size you have. We believe the fireplace is the heart of the home, if its rolling, you have company no matter who is home. Our suggestion is to give yourself a minimum of 2" on either side of the firebox and give yourself a minimum of 3" from the front. We like to shove our grates as far back as they can go to ensure a good draw.
***Grates do not last forever based on your usage grates will degrade over time and, well, fall apart. We build for two requirements; aesthetics and durability, however our grates will wear out because long-term heat and weight will destroy the steel.
